Welcome to Shade Mountain Vineyards!

We welcome you to visit us here at our winery and vineyards outside of Middleburg, Pennsylvania. While sitting outside on our expansive decks, you'll marvel at the spectacular views of the vineyards and fields nestled in the foothills of Shade Mountain.   Most importantly, we cordially invite you to sample our wonderful variety of over 30 different wines!  Our 19th-century barn houses wine-making and hosts free daily tastings of our full line of wines. You do not need an appointment, just drop in during our regular business hours, as we are open 7 days a week year-round.

Think of our area as a great escape for a relaxing weekend. In addition to Shade Mountain Vineyards & Winery, local attractions include Penns Creek Pottery, housed in a turn-of-the-century mill, and Raymond B. Winter State Park, complete with hiking trails, lake and wildlife center. After your busy day, spend a night or two in luxury at The Vicksburg Inn, Inn at New Berlin or The Copper Beach Manor in downtown Lewisburg.  We are also day-trip-worthy as we are a nice drive from Harrisburg and State College.  Pack a lunch to enjoy with your favorite Shade Mountain selection, while overlooking our vineyard on our beautiful deck!

This full-bodied, dry, award-winning red wine is the perfect combatant to the doldrums of winter! Full of fruit and licorice undertones….this oaked red also tastes wonderful with a juicy steak.

(made using this flavorful wine:)

1.5 lbs ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 chopped green bell pepper
1 chopped small white onion
1 minced garlic clove
1 package (1.25 oz) chili seasoning mix
2 tablespoons chili powder
½ teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 (16 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 (16 oz) can ranch-style pinto beans
1 (16 oz) can kidney beans (rinsed)
2 cups Shade Mtn Chambourcin
Salt & Pepper to taste
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Sauté onions & bell peppers in olive oil until tender. Add ground beef & brown slowly stirring often. Add garlic & cook. Add chili seasonings, chili powder, cumin, crushed red pepper, tomatoes, both beans & CHAMBOURCIN. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat & simmer for 3 hours. After 3 hours, taste & add salt & pepper. Then add sugar to round out flavor. Serve with sour cream, shredded cheese & chopped green onions!
